Party Snackin' with My Jello Americans

Remember when cakes looked like this and cupcakes looked like this. Those were simpler times folks. With the current popularity of cake decorating television shows we get to look at shit like this and this.

But we here at Somewhat Shameless are bored with fancy cakes. We want something a little more creative and we want it to involve alcohol. Fortunately we didn't have to go very far to get exactly that. My Jello Americans, the culinary genius of two fine Philadelphia ladies, takes the simplest of party snacks and turns them into delicious (and sometimes not so delicious) works of art. The gals, Moe and Cory, recently stopped by our new home at Woodshop Films to introduce us to the world of fancy jello shots and explain to us why their "recipe" blog doesn't have any recipes.

Scott Pilgrim Vol. 6 Release Party

"Where is this Scott Pilgrim guy?" -drunk dude outside of Brave New Worlds

Everyone and their mom is getting hyped for the August 13th release of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. The movie, directed by Edgar Wright is based on Bryan Lee O'Malley's comic book series, Scott Pilgrim.

Volume 6 of the series recently hit the shelves (by recently we mean this past Tuesday) and fans new and old lined up to purchase their copy and argue about "liking it before it was cool to like it"

We stopped by the Brave New Worlds Midnight release party to mingle with the nerdy and grab a copy for ourselves. Unfortunately we didn't get enough footage to warrant making a video so you will have to deal with this picture post instead.

Ah, Wizard World conventions; where comic book nerds, sci-fi geeks and a bevy of peculiar characters all gather to add to their collections, drool over B (or even C) list celebrities and show off their costumes. We didn't believe so much great stuff could be in one building so we decided to check out the Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con. And guess what? It was pretty awesome. We ran into old friends and even made some new ones. Check out the highlights in this video....

Partying Hard with Andrew W.K.

If there is one thing Somewhat Shameless knows how to do, it's party. However, even we are always open to suggestions on how to party hard. And who better to give us such advice than the undisputed King of Partying, Andrew W.K.

The multi-talented entertainer was recently a guest d.j. for Rocktits! as part of Making Time's 10 Year Summer of Radness Blast Off. We had the pleasure of meeting up with Andrew W.K. before his appearance at The Pub on Passyunk East (aka the P.O.P.E) where he expressed his love of bananas, gave us his top 5 party tips and took a Rorschach test.
